The “Hocus Pocus 2” cast and crew have been spotted in at least half a dozen locations throughout Rhode Island since the sequel to the 1993 Disney movie about resurrected witches tormenting a modern-day town began filing last month.
Twitter had been active with spottings of Fairy Dust Productions’ doings, as well as an official Disney announcement of who would round out the cast, joining the witches from the original: Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy.
‘Hocus Pocus 2’ Cast and Plot
The plot of the new movie, as reported by ew.com, is strikingly similar to the original: a group of teens must stop the resurrected Sanderson sisters — the witches — from wreaking havoc in the modern world. Only this one is set 29 years after the original.
Disney announced a release date for the straight-to-streaming movie — fall 2022 — as well as the supporting cast in a tweet on Halloween
1). Providence: Cranston Street Armory
The Cranston Street Armory was chosen for its high ceilings and open spaces to allow the filming of flying witches, special effects and other indoor scenes.

2). Lincoln: Chase Farm Park
Crews built a replica of Salem, Massachusetts, in the 1670s at Lincoln’s Chase Farm Park and filmed there the last week of October. The village still stands — and is still fenced off — in expectation that Fairy Dust Productions will return for one or two more shots. Rumors that they would burn the village down have turned out to be untrue — so far.
Looking like Salem, MA: A 1670s village rises in Lincoln park. Will it meet a fiery end? Witches are expected.
3). Providence: La Salle Academy
4). Providence: Benefit Street
On Friday, the crew began blocking off parts of Benefit Street to allow for filming in the College Hill neighborhood.
5). Newport: Washington Square
This week, the camera turned to Newport’s Washington Square, where the crew had constructed a set to host a fall festival in modern-day “Salem.”
6). East Providence: Cemetery
Night-time scenes were filmed last week in the Lakeside-Carpenter Cemetery in the Rumford section of East Providence.
